WELL DRILLED
Dril-Quip Inc is one of the world's leading manufacturers of precision-engineered offshore drilling and production equipment.

EP_10.jpg

Dril-Quip Inc designs and manufactures sub-sea, surface and offshore rig equipment for use by oil and gas companies in offshore areas throughout the world. Its equipment is well suited for use in deepwater, harsh environments and severe service applications. It also provides installation and reconditioning services as well as rental running tools for use with its products.

In 1981 Dril-Quip was co-founded as a Texas corporation by Larry E. Reimert, Gary D. Smith, J. Mike Walker and Gary W. Loveless. Together, Messrs Reimert, Smith and Walker have over 75 years of combined experience in the oilfield equipment industry, essentially all of which has been with the company and its major competitors. In addition, key department managers on average have been with the company for over ten years. The company was reincorporated as a Delaware corporation in August 1997.

Operating from a base in Aberdeen, Scotland, Dril-Quip’s European Headquarters offers the organisation’s full range of products and services to the European marketplace and covers the all important North Sea oil sector. Dril-Quip Europe’s customer base consists of many of the largest players in the world’s oil, gas and petrochemical industries. The company’s world headquarters are in Houston, USA and in addition to its European headquarters it has a location in Brazil and Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore.

A technological leader in the industry Dril-Quip is able to consistently provide new and improved products to the oil and gas sector. It has professional engineering staff with in-depth experience in the design of drilling and completion equipment. It also has state-of-the-art computers systems which are networked to expedite and optimise the process of modelling, analysing, modifying and testing each design.

Computer Controlled
The products are manufactured from select, high-grade forging materials using computer-controlled machine tools for dimensional accuracy, precision machining, and consistent high quality. Prior to shipment each product is inspected, assembled and tested, and each customer’s order is scheduled and monitored during the manufacturing process using computer-tracking systems. This attention to detail ensures product quality and on-time delivery.

Dril-Quip service technicians are rigorously trained and tested to assist in the installation, inspection, proper use, repair and maintenance of all Dril-Quip products. For field services only the most qualified and knowledgeable personnel are employed. These service technicians are readily available to customers worldwide on a 24-hour basis and are dispatched from strategically located Dril-Quip facilities. The company has also enlarged its project management capabilities to enable it to better manage the design, manufacture and installation of its products on large, integrated projects throughout the world.

Dril-Quip has implemented a quality management system that ensures its products are of high quality in accordance with industry requirements. Its products are designed and manufactured to meet national and international standards including API and ISO 9001-2000.

The company produces quik-thread connectors, which provide fast makeup, reliable sealing and versatility to excel in a variety of drilling applications. Their rugged thread form and automatic self-aligning profiles allow for quick and easy installation in the field. The newest member in the quik-thread line of connectors is the multi-thread connector. It maintains the field-proven performance of the quik-thread design with the advantage of making up in only five-eighths of a turn. Multi-thread connectors are ideally suited for running large diameter casing because they do not require the use of power tongs.

Dril-Quip also offers a complete line of riser systems, the components of which meet or exceed the new demands of deeper water drilling, such as stronger connections, additional auxiliary lines, automatic fill-up valves and greater tensioning capacity.

Dril-Quip's diverter systems provide field-proven protection from shallow gas. The MD diverter system is designed for jack-up and platform and the MDF diverter system is used for floating drilling operations. These diverters minimise the number of mechanical and hydraulic connections required for installation.

Utilising its field-proven sub-sea technology, Drip-Quip has introduced a new generation of liner hanger and liner hanger packer. Built to perform under a wide range of conditions the LS-15 liner hanger products are ideally suited for long reach, high angle, horizontal and ultra heavy liner completions. This premium liner hook-up incorporates many innovative tool designs, ensuring reliable operation and service in many of today's most demanding wells.

Dril-Quip offers unitised template systems designed for mudline well spacing and tie-back platform completions. These template systems are specifically designed for use with jack-ups and platforms. The bottom supported template systems can be used where ocean floor conditions are known to be stable and where ocean floor inclination is typically less than four degrees. Alternatively, where ocean floor conditions are known to be unstable and pre-drilling conductors could undermine the template foundations, conductor supported template systems are used. This template system is also suited to areas where the ocean floor is heavily inclined.

To help ensure that its products are delivered on time Dril-Quip maintains experienced sales coordination. Project management teams coordinate customer needs with engineering, manufacturing and service organisations, as well as with subcontractors and vendors, for large drilling and production orders.  VTR
